My hero Valentino Rossi at Silverstone on his Ducati - I had the perfect spot here - at a certain point in the turn the riders were momentarily "stopped" and giving me a perfect shot of the rear.

PostSubject: Cropping?   Motogp 2012 EmptyMon Jan 28, 2013 2:22 am

Cracking shot of the rear Shocked There is a lot of dead space in there that isn't really saying anything, do you think it would benefit from a spot of cropping to increase the drama of the shot?
Harking back to the days of the first digital cameras I was always loathed to crop because of the drop in quality but these days it makes very little difference, I always think cropping is a bit of an unsung hero in photo editing.
I put a bit of tilt on it to further increase the tension. Apologies if you hate. You still have a great photo there.

Sorry I didn't post a proper comment Jo. I was busy adding bits to the site and forgot it was here.

Definitely like the crop Ady has done. It has greatly increased the intensity and drama. Looks like you picked yourself a perfect spot to get some shots. Did you get any other good photos from the same day?

If you can get some motion blur in the background it would look even better to me...I know it wouldn't be easy as there is just a lot of grey in the background and may not appeal to some, that's just what I would like to see. I associate motor sports with speed, so I like to see that incorporated into the shots

I can't view the cropped version!
My Cybershot is only 5mp at best and with having to zoon in so far I lost a lot of the pixels to go 24x. So I didn't even consider cropping as I thought it would lose the definition. I will try it later though...
I have many more from that weekend too, which I'll post up another time.
